Russian, Belarusian leaders to discuss working group on integration — minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will discuss the timetable of the working group on Russia-Belarus integration in the near future, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin told reporters on the outcomes of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council.

"As you know, a meeting between the two [leaders], Putin and Lukashenko, is planned for the nearest future," Oreshkin said. "I think that during this meeting, they will also discuss the issues that affect the timetable of our working group with Mr. Krutoy (Dmitry Krutoy, Belarusian Economy Minister - TASS). We are waiting for the meeting between the two presidents, on the outcomes of which we can receive additional directions and work in accordance with those," he added.

In December 2018, Russian and Belarusian leaders agreed to create an intergovernmental working group on integration development. Oreshkin headed the Russian side, while Belarusian Minister of Economy Dmitry Krutoy headed the Belarusian delegation. Earlier, Krutoy told reporters that Minsk offered to discuss the issue of the tax maneuver and the energy complex during the first session of the group. According to him, Russian colleagues have not come up with initiatives concerning the first session so far, but did not rule out that a meeting on key issues may take place in the upcoming month.
